MEETING
13th November 2007

Jill was welcomed as a new member to the committee representing the Borough
Council.
MATTERS ARISING We need to talk to Roddy about whether there is any progress over the future of the newsletter.
PARISH COUNCIL The proposal of a community car park was mentioned in the Parish Newsletter and is on the agenda for the Parish Council AGM next year which will be held in Wood Street. This will be an opportunity for people to voice their opinions and is part of the consultation process.
AOB Insurance has been renewed for another year. Additional premium will need to be taken out to cover the Summer Show.
Janet Morley, as a member of the History Society, will take the old WSVA minute books and printer's blocks and original artwork for the village notelets.
Speedwatch were filmed as part of a documentary on speeding. Broad Street has one of the worst records in the local area for speeding.
Richard has made a donation to the Scouts for £70 in appreciation of their support at the Show.
The trains no longer hoot by Wildfields Farm because it is a footpath rather than having vehicular access. Anne will report her concern over the use of wood rather than rubber when the crossing was repaired recently.
There are no further developments regarding the proposal to build a Scout hut down White Hart Lane.
Work has started on the kickabout area.
It was suggested that more dropped kerbs are needed on the Oval so disabled people can get to the shops/church.
The date suggested for the WSVA AGM next year is 9th May (the Hall is not available on 1st)
On 4th January, Sister Susan Bloomfield will be moving into St. Alban's House with her hearing assisted dog, Heidi. She is Chaplain to the Deaf Community in the Guildford Diocese.
Members
of the Horticultural Society and Summer Show committees then came
to join us for a meeting on the future of the Show:
David Hypher, Hilary Barker, Joanna Handley, Irene Chester and Claire Sykes.
Everyone was unanimous in their thanks for the hard work of this year's Show committee. I have attached the minutes sent out by Hilary regarding the meeting and proposals made by Bill Chester, including the formation of a steering committee to oversee the running of the Show. Volunteers for the steering committee were: David Hypher, Bill Chester, Richard Day, Hilary Barker, Claire Sykes and Janet Sutton has agreed to represent the WSVA. The date of next year's Show will be 19th July.
The meeting closed at 9.25pm
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 11th December at 8pm in the Church.
This will be a short business meeting followed by refreshments. Please feel free to bring along any drink or nibbles. Thanks.
