MATTERS
ARISING
There were no matters arising.
SUMMER
SHOW
Rod reported on the Show. All went as smoothly as possible considering the
weather. Two issues had emerged: that there should be 2 disabled parking spaces
and that any food being sold (eg in the tea tent) should be supervised by someone
with an NVQ qualification in Food Hygiene. The certificate is held by 3 members
of the Scout group. The food inspector reported that as the Show is only held
once a year, it shouldn't be a problem but it does need to be considered when
completing the Risk Assessment.
Richard
presented the accounts for the Show. The Barn Dance made a loss due to the need
to buy the wood chip.
It was agreed that the Barn Dance was a success and should be repeated. One
idea put forward was that people could bring their own food and then the tickets
could be priced at perhaps £10. More raffle tickets could have been sold. There
was a lengthy discussion on the accounts, the costs of the security, the marquee,
the sound system etc.
It was agreed that it was a good show and the Show Committee should be congratulated
on all their hard work both before and on the day of the Show.
Rod and Hilary will report back to the joint meeting of the Horticultural Society
and the Show Committee.
The Show Committee will be asked to consider giving a donation to the Scouts
in recognition of their first aid responsibility on the day.
Rod and Diana are resigning from the Show Committee for next year.
NEWSLETTER
Roddy has received an e-mail from a lady (Sarah) who is willing to take over
the newsletter. He is trying to contact her to arrange a meeting.
PARISH
COUNCIL
The Parish Council newsletter is being produced every 3 months but there are
insufficient distributors. Does anyone know of any volunteers? Rod offered to
cover Oak Hill. Bob is trying to find out if other distributors eg. the Normandy
Directory would be willing to take on the job. Richard reported that the White
Hart pub got a good deal over the distribution of their advertisement.
The idea of a community car park is still being pursued by the Parish Council.
The AGM of the Parish Council will be held in Wood Street next year and the
car park will be on the agenda. The cost could be £60,000.
AOB
Jill Chan has asked to be the nominated councillor for the Village Association
and will then come to our meetings.
Alison will write on behalf of the WSVA regarding the kerbstones on The Oval
and Pound Hill.
The Parish Council is asking for compensation from the woman who backed over
and destroyed the bench on the Green.
Bob will ask Mark what is happening to halt the spread of the Japanese Knotweed.
The water leak along Frog Grove Lane is caused by water overflowing from the
pumping station across the road.
The meeting closed at 9.10 pm.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, 9th October at 8pm in the Church.
