The Wood Street Village History Society was formed in the 1980s with the purpose of collecting and maintaining information about people, events and buildings in the Village so that these can be archived and kept for future generations.In 1988, Woodstreet, the growth of a Village was published and 1500 copies were produced. There now remain only a few copies of this book and current members of the History Society have been collecting information to put together a new book of the Village with much new material from the Twentieth Century.
The History Society would very much like to hear from you if you have memories you can share and/or photographs and memorabilia (these can be copied and the originals returned to you) from years gone by that you would like to see preserved in the archives or included in the new book.
As we are going to begin to write the book very soon we would also like to hear from anyone who can assist in any way in the production. People with IT, proof-reading and editorial skills would be particularly welcome.
