W.S.V.A. MEETING

10TH June 2008

Those present: Bob McShee, Anne Brown, Bonnie Holland, Rod Stone, Nicky Parsons, Janet Sutton, Andrew Bryant, Mike Wiggins.

Apologies: Alison Johnson, Caroline Mankelow, Richard Day, Richard Trinick.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read approved and signed.

Election of Chairman

As there were no volunteers, Bonny suggested that we do not need a chairman and we could be called the Village Circle instead of the Village Association. There would be a facilitator instead of a chairman, and everyone would take it in turns to be the facilitator. We would start by having a discussion about the aims of the W.S.V.A.

Andrew said that he could see some benefits of having a rotating chair, but there would be times when we would have to revert to a more formal style of meeting, for instance if the association had to take on a more campaigning role.

Bob felt that we would still need a permanent secretary as there has to be an address and name to distribute to other organisations, the same applies to the Treasurer.

Andrew suggested that we think about it very carefully over the next few meetings so that we are all clear about the changes we want. Bonnie will bring information as to how these groups work. The new options could then be presented at the next A.G.M.

Youth Representative

It was pointed out that if we have an under 18 year old representative then all of the committee would have to be checked by child protection. Bonnie said she did not think this was the case but Andrew stated that those are the rules for all groups that meet in the church. It was felt that perhaps over 18s might be more useful but no decision was taken.

A.G.M

It was felt that the AGM was well attended and successful and we gained a new member from it, Mike Wiggins, who was welcomed to the meeting. The matter raised by Gill Cross about heavy vehicles passing by her house is being dealt with by Bob McShee.

Summer Show

Plans seem to be going ahead and some items were read from the steering committee minutes.
